Home Business Post Free Ads Quickly

by admin on August 29, 2009

Posting free classified ads on the Internet is a great way to market your business, but there are some things you will need to know to do this effectively. Below is a list of my top ten tips, followed by my list of top ten free classified sites, for Home Business Post Free Ads Quickly.

FIRST: Posting one or two ads a week is usually pointless, unless you are using the higher visibility paid advertisements. You should plan on posting dozens, if not hundreds, of free classified ads if you want to make this an effective part of your marketing campaign.

SECOND: You will need to keep track of which ads can be reposted every week, and which ones are monthly posts. On most sites, if you post too many ads at once, or if you post too many per week or month, the system will give you a warning and block the ad, and you could even have your account closed. Most sites will require you to set up an account, but this is a fairly quick process in your home business post free ads quickly campaign.

THIRD: There are usually free, and premium paid upgrades on each site. It will sometimes make more sense to pay the small fee, especially if the free option yields very little response. But test the free ads first before you allocate a small marketing budget for this. If you keep a record of all your responses you can really fine-tune your marketing efforts and get pretty scientific about it.

FOURTH: There are usually several different categories to choose from that all seem to fit your home business advertisement just fine. But you will often get either more responses, or a better target market responding, from one of the categories versus the others. You will want to test this by varying the different categories and keeping track of your results.

FIFTH: There will be different cities, and sometimes countries, to choose from. You will get either more responses, or a better target market responding, from certain locations over others. You will want to test and keep track of this also in your home business post free ads quickly program.

SIXTH: Copywriting is very important. When writing an ad, the biggest copywriting tip I can give is to talk about the benefits rather than the features. Benefits discuss what it will do for them, whereas features talk about how great the business, product, or service is. People will only care about your business, product, or service, if it solves some of their problems. So talk about their problems, how much they must bother the reader, and how great it would be to have that solved. Don’t even go into many details about your company. A good example of this could be a paint store trying to advertise how great their paint is. Nobody cares! That doesn’t address a problem. But if they were to advertise about how tired you must be of looking at that dreary old house of yours with the chipped paint, and how all your friends and neighbors will be envious of your bright and shiny new home, people will start to FEEL the need, and come to the advertiser asking about the features of their paint.

SEVENTH: The more mystery there is, the more it will create curiosity. And conversely, the more you explain the details, the more they will dismiss it as something they know everything about already, and decide that they don’t need to respond.

EIGHT: Don’t use big words; stick to a 9th grade vocabulary. People buy on emotional responses (and when you place an ad you are always selling something). If you get them thinking, they will stop feeling, start analyzing, and usually determine that they know it all already and don’t need what you have to offer.

NINTH: If you can get away with posting a business opportunity in the jobs section, you will have much less competition, and more responses. On some sites it will be ok to do this, but others have stricter rules. And keep your prospect in mind too. You don’t want to come across as being deceptive. My feeling is that our society is so indoctrinated into the employee mentality, that most people have no idea what a business opportunity is, and it usually turns out that I am right. But you will have to word your home business ad very carefully for it to be applicable to the category. One trick that I used in the past was explaining that I was advertising an independent contractor position, which has many benefits over a traditional job. A word of warning here: you could have your ad removed, and possibly even have your account suspended, if you try this too often on a site that has rules prohibiting it.

TENTH: Craigslist is by far the best, and is currently the number one classified site in the US. They provide different sites for most major cities. Craigslist has been fighting off a lot of scammers from other countries lately, so they have made their policies about multiple postings very strict. On Craigslist you will need to set up an account for each city in which you choose to post, and verify each account with a different phone number. This really only takes a few minutes however. But even though Craigslist has very high traffic, you will probably not be able to post dozens of ads on it, due to their strict rules.

Very informative article. It is a niche market for many of us trying to get our name out there.

Depending on your application some of these sites can be very helpful in developing web traffic.

Also I have noted that you can add your web site to Yahoo and Google’s web crawler at no cost. This also is a grassroots effort, so that when you do begin to spend advertising dollars, your web based presence can be referenced from many sources.

Thanks for the tips!
