Did you get dozens of e-mails this week from total strangers who have “the solution” to your financial and marketing problems? Is there someone trying to push a new MLM on you every time you get on the Internet? Are you looking for ways to improve or build a home business, but you have no idea if any of these ads are trustworthy or not? Is this whole scenario extremely annoying? I know it is for me.
I was so inundated with spam, and marketers trying to pull my attention in every other direction, except my own business, that I had to tune most of it out completely. Yet, I didn’t want to miss out on some important marketing training that might take my business to the next level. I was lucky enough to have connected early on with some of the best Internet network marketers in the industry. I soaked up all their training, and applied their awesome sales funnel concept. I studied and implemented some basic Internet marketing strategies, and quickly got up to 60+ leads a day for free, and my network marketing biz was growing fast. But then disaster hit!
I wanted to learn every free Internet marketing method out there, and compile them into an e-book I was working on which I titled “Network Marketer’s Ultimate Guide to Free Internet Advertising.” The goal was to use this as a manual to help my downline. So I bought new courses and e-books from anyone who looked like they had a decent new marketing approach; I learned and mastered the top 10 free marketing strategies for Internet Network Marketers, wrote the book, and it helped my team tremendously.
But then something completely unexpected happened. My leads for my own business went from 60+ a day down to less than 10! How could this happen? Wasn’t I applying more marketing skills than ever before? How could I be doing worse? I was, depressed, confused, overwhelmed, and I wanted to quit (I didn’t of course, I have a big team depending on me). So what did I do? Well, as the saying goes: “Confused reps do nothing.” So that is what I did, Nothing. I shifted gears and focused on another business of mine, a book I had been writing about songwriting, which I needed to finish anyway in time to sell at some music seminars I would be teaching a few months down the road.
But when I finished my music book, and the mental clouds cleared, all of a sudden I saw clearly what had happened to my Internet Network Marketing biz. Information Overload had struck me down in my prime. I had spread myself so thin, and in so many different marketing directions, that even though I had more knowledge, and was marketing more than ever, my results suffered dramatically. Once I identified the disease, the confusion cleared, and I quickly found the only 3 possible cures for Information Overload.
Cure #1: Only study the best Internet marketing training, until you have a solid foundation to help you make sense of all the junk out there.
Cure #2: Very Important: Focus on only 1 marketing strategy at a time, until you completely master it, and are getting at least 5-10 free leads a day (this means strangers coming to you asking for information about your biz-op). Only then should you ad a second or third strategy.
Cure #3: Find a good mentor to guide you, don’t try and navigate this labyrinth on your own, you will get lost, and you might not make it back.
Once I focused on the three cures above, I quickly brought my business back to 60-100 leads a day. If you follow the three guidelines above, you will avoid the perils of Information Overload, and with a little ambition, and the right training, take your business to the top!
Please leave a comment and let me know you’re alive.
