Is Your Job a Scam?

by admin on September 18, 2009

Did you ever have anyone ask you if your business opportunity was a scam or a pyramid scheme? First of all, you should know that entrepreneurs and wealthy people never ask questions like that. They evaluate the benefits and compare it with their talents and wealth-building plan, to see if there might be a good fit. A question like that comes form a fear and scarcity mentality that needs to be completely eradicated from ones mind if he or she is to ever achieve real financial freedom in life. But the next time a question like that comes up, I would ask the person if their Job is a scam.

You might get a laugh at the thought of a job being a scam, or even a dismissive sneer. But then you can follow up with these questions, and typical answers:

1) Do you receive regular paychecks? Yes
2) Does the government takes about 30% of that money in taxes? Yes
3) If you work harder will you get paid more, do you get paid what you are worth? No
4) Do you have unlimited earning potential, is there the possibility of becoming wealthy in your job if you work really hard at it? No
5) Will you have to work 40+ hours a week for 20, 30, or 40 years? Yes
6) Will you have enough money to retire on? Hopefully
7) Can you set your own hours and take off whenever you want? No
8) Is this job your dream, or is it just something you have to do to survive? It is not usually their childhood dream, which has by now probably been reduced to the size of their paycheck.

Now you can summarize their situation for them:

You get regular paychecks, but the government takes 30%. You can never earn more than a certain amount that might go up now and then, but never exponentially. You will have to work 40+ hours a week for the best part of your life, and still might not have enough money to retire with. You cannot set your own hours and you can only take off a certain amount of vacation time each year. And you are not only not living your dreams; you are not even doing something that you really enjoy!

Then tell the person: “Your Job is not a just a scam, It is a modern form of Slavery!”

But a business opportunity allows you to write off almost all of your taxes, get paid what you are worth, set your own hours, has unlimited earning potential and the opportunity to become wealthy, you can retire after 3-5 years of hard work, you are doing something you enjoy, and you can take time off whenever you like and live the life of your dreams. And all that is required are a few solid years of hard work, and this does require hard work, and the ability to think like a free person rather than a slave.

That sad truth of the matter is that a lot of people will never get it; they will never break free from this cultural programming called a “Job.” You cannot become free without first realizing that you have become a slave. And if everyone you have ever known was a job worker, not an entrepreneur, then it can be really hard to think outside of that box. But you will save some, and change many lives, and that will be all that it takes for you to gain your freedom from slavery.

I love your list. I put that on the board no lie at my college in front of over 200 students when the teacher snapped at me to prove what I was saying back in April. They were blown away at my boldness. The room went quiet and 1 person raised his hand and said I want to do whatever you do. It was a good day.
